Ken Hicks
Ken started playing trumpet professionally in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area
at the age of 15. He attended UTA and North Texas University as a Music
Education major and was in the North Texas Lab Band Program. After a brief stint
as a band director in Mansfield, Ken joined the U.S. Navy in 1967 and was Lead
Trumpet and Soloist for the Navy Band for 4 years. After release from U.S. Navy,
Ken formed a group named "StreetLife" that traveled the U.S. for 15 years during
the "disco" era. After returning to this area, Ken met and married his wife Pam and now
has two sons, Sean and Steven, and two grandchildren, Connor and Kaitlyn. Soon
after they married, Ken was asked to play for Eagle Mountain Church by his
Guitar player of many years, Stan Nixon who had been saved and was now in
Ministry there as Senior Adult Pastor. Ken realized that God had protected him
all those "road years" to be a part of the Music Ministry. Ken was saved there
and served
for 7 years as a Graphic Designer on the magazine staff and as a
music arranger, as well as a musician on Bass, Trumpet, and vocals with Kenneth
Copeland Ministries and Eagle Mountain Church in Newark, Texas. After leaving KCM, Ken served as Praise and Worship Leader for 6 years at Mount Olive Ministry
Center in Arlington, Texas. Ken most recently ministered at Fellowship of the Metroplex in Arlington, Texas for 3 years on Keyboards, Bass, Trumpet and as a
vocal soloist. Ken is now playing locally and teaching private lessons for trumpet, piano, and
drums at Main Street School of Music in downtown Arlington. Ken performs on
trumpet/flugelhorn, Bass, keyboards and vocals. Jazz and contemporary styles are
his specialties. |
